Thing 2
Thanks for showing an interest in where I work. To answer your questions, I am College Librarian at Harlaxton College near Grantham, which is the British campus of the University of Evansville. It is housed in Harlaxton Manor which is a beautiful rambling Victorian gothic manor house, and the Library is situated in what used to be the kitchens. We have American students visiting for a semester and run two semesters in a year. In between (at the moment) we have summer schools and conferences. The Library is of moderate size, 20,000 or so volumes and supports cross-curricular University level studies, with special emphasis on British Studies.

Wow, I just Googled Harlaxton College - what a gorgeous campus! It must be amazing to work in such a facility. I'm wondering if you ever find the architecture or historical nature of your surroundings challenging to your work?

Hi! I admit I clicked through to your blog because of the name, but I'm thrilled to find another UK Librarian working in US HE! I work for the University of Notre Dame's London Programs, with a pattern of student use that sounds very similar to yours - 2 semester cohorts and then summer schools (and conferences). We have similarly historic accommodations, but not on your grand scale - an Edwardian gentleman's club, rather than a grand country house.
